Amanda Desai (she/her/hers)
Director of Residence Life

Amanda began at Nichols in 2011 as a Residence Director in Shamie Hall and has been serving as the Director of Residence Life since 2018. Amanda received her Bachelor of Technology, Agricultural Business Management from SUNY Cobleskill and later fell in love with higher education, and received her MA of Higher Education Administrative Services at McKendree University in 2012. 

What is your favorite thing about Nichols College?

Nichols is bursting with Bison Pride and I love being a part of that community! Our small community feel and nurturing environment is why I enjoy working here.

What do you like to do outside of work? 

Outside of work I love spending time with my husband Bhavin and my son, Dev. You can always find me either out in the garden or in the kitchen trying out a new recipe!

What stands out to you most about Nichols students?

Nichols students are dedicated, hardworking, and truly look out for one another. They make connections and work together to build a strong community on campus.

Adrienne Boertjens (she/her/hers)
Assistant Director of Residence Life

Adrienne joined the Residence Life team in 2016 as an Area Coordinator, and has been serving as the Assistant Director since 2021. Adrienne earned her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Minnesota State University, Mankato. She then went on to earn her MA in Higher Education Student Affairs at Eastern Michigan University where she served as a Graduate Hall Director.

What is your favorite thing about Nichols College?

I most appreciate the sense of community that comes from working with such a tight-knit group of students and fellow staff members! Getting to know students on a personal level and playing such a direct role in their transformative growth is extremely rewarding.

What do you like to do outside of work? 

I enjoy the beautiful things in life! I like to do a lot of arts and crafts in my spare time, as well as taking care of my numerous houseplants and spending time on the beach soaking up the sun!

What stands out to you most about Nichols students?

Nichols students are very driven, and demonstrate eager participation in their own learning experience.  They’re often willing to take on new challenges and seek opportunities for their own personal and professional growth, and are very committed to advancing the Nichols Community as a whole.  They truly embody the “herd” mentality of looking out for one another.

Logan Hennessy (he/him/his)
Area Coordinator

Logan joined Nichols College Residence Life team in 2021 as an Area Coordinator. Prior to starting at Nichols, he worked as a high school teacher at Nantucket High School, as well as a Resident Director and Student Activities Coordinator at Fisher College in Boston. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Framingham State University in 2018, and received his Masters of Education degree in Higher Education from Merrimack College in 2020.

What are you most looking forward to at Nichols College?

I’m looking forward to making a positive impact on the students and community at Nichols. Nichols is a close-knit community, which I’m excited to be a part of!

What do you like to do outside of work?

I love spending time with friends, whether it’s playing D&D or watching so-good-they’re-bad movies. I have an affinity for the culinary arts and I recently picked up pastel drawing. I’m also a huge basketball fan.

What is your favorite thing about working in Higher Education?

Meeting and working with students from diverse backgrounds. I’m always eager to learn about students’ backgrounds, experiences, and passions.

Diana Rocheleau (she/her/hers)
Area Coordinator

Diana joined the Nichols College Residence Life team in 2021 as an Area Coordinator.  Before coming to Nichols, she worked at Salem State University as a Graduate Assistant for Career Services while she completed her Masters of Education in Higher Education in Student Affairs.  She received this degree in 2021 and her Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from Keene State College in 2018.

What are you most looking forward to at Nichols College?

I am looking forward to becoming part of the Nichols community and positively impacting student experiences!

What do you like to do outside of work?

I love spending time with family and friends, trying out new baking techniques/recipes, lots of artistic things like painting and quilting, and playing video games with friends online!

What is your favorite thing about working in Higher Education?

I love learning about the students’ journeys, their passions, and their future plans! Supporting others to help them succeed is my passion and higher education is the perfect field for that!.

Payden Carter (he/him/his)
Area Coordinator

Payden joined the Nichols College Residence Life team in the fall of 2021. In 2018 he received his Bachelor of Arts in Biblical & Theological Studies from Wheaton College. In 2020 he received his Master of Arts in Higher Education & Student Development from Wheaton College. During his time as a graduate student he served in the office of Learning & Accessibility Services coming alongside students with academic accommodations inside and outside of the classroom.

What are you most looking forward to at Nichols College?

This year I am most excited about meeting new students and being a part of their daily life in the Residence Halls. Hopefully we can make good food and watch some football on the weekends. 

What do you like to do outside of work?

Outside of work one of my biggest hobbies is ultimate frisbee. You could likely find me around campus enjoying Nichols nine hole frisbee golf course as well. Feel free to come by anytime if you would like to play! 

What is your favorite thing about working in Higher Education?

There is so much I love about Higher Education. What I love most is how it empowers students to uncover what gifts they have so that they can be better equipped to change the world for the better. Seeing students uncover these passions is one of my greatest joys.
